Sitting on the edge of the internationally acclaimed Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay, Coles Bay offers a unique blend of world-renown wilderness, beaches, wildlife and outdoor activities.
Around 2 ½ hours drive from Hobart or 2 hours from Launceston, and with a population of less than 200, Coles bay remains a relative secret spot – and a truly world-class destination.
Coles Bay is approximately 2.5 Hours from either Hobart (195kms) or Launceston (175kms). If travelling from Hobart take the Tasman Highway (A3) to Sorell and continue up the east coast through Orford and Swansea. Still travelling North along the Tasman Highway (A3) you come across the Coles Bay turnoff to your right. From Launceston, take the Midland Highway (Route 1) to Campbell Town and turn left onto the B34 heading towards Lake Leake. Continue along the B34 until you reach the Tasman Highway (A3). From there turn left, heading north up the Coast until you reach the Coles Bay turnoff (approximately 10 Kms). The turnoff is very well signposted however can come up on you quickly.
From the turnoff on the Tasman Highway it is approximately 28kms along the Coles Bay Road to the township of Coles Bay. Along the Coles Bay Road you will find the turnoff (approximately 9kms in) to Friendly Beaches on your left and Moulting Lagoon on your right a further 15 kms along the Coles Bay Road you will pass Swanwick and Hazards View on you right.
Once you reach the Coles Bay sign take the first turn on the right into the Esplanade.
Go past the Fuel stop, shops and tavern and you will see my sign directly across the road from the Muir,s beach sign.
Go up the gravel driveway and you will see the units Hubies Hideaway on the left and Nautica at the back.
Driving at night, especially around dawn and dusk can be hazardous as the wildlife is abundant at those times. Caution should be taken at any time however.
